And, before we knew it, we were on our way to Sydney on March 3, Monday morning. We had rented a serviced apartment (the same place we’ve stayed before) and wanted to do some grocery shopping before we checked in. We arrived, Tom returned the car, and we went about the business of unpacking and settling in.
The next day, we took a ferry ride across the harbor to Manly – which is about ½ hour by boat from Sydney. The weather in Sydney had been unusually wet and cool during January and February, so the beach was crowded with tourists and locals hungry for some sun and warm, sunny weather. This photo looks toward the north, away from the main part of the beach. The landmark Norfolk pines that line the promenade are one of Manly’s signatures.

This is our favorite beach hangout – Coogee Beach, which is one of the many ocean beaches just south of famous Bondi Beach. It’s a great place to take in some sun and watch the surf. One of our favorite activities is to pack a picnic lunch and spend a few hours at Wylie’s baths, which you can see in the background of this photo.
