Monday, February 26
Today, we woke up at 6am to rain, which allowed us to doze for another hour. We had a quick breakfast, and by 8am the wind had dried the streets enough to go out for a ride. I could feel my “unused” body parts as I climbed on the bike – my own fault for taking such a long hiatus from riding. The wind was quite fierce, so I only went 10 miles, and left Tom to do a longer ride. I could tell he was keen to “hammer” on his new frame. He’s been so pleased with it, and we’re both still in awe that Seven was able to turn it around so quickly.
The weather is supposed to be cooler and unsettled today – high of about 75° - but should stabilize before we leave for Sydney tomorrow. We spent a lazy day exploring the little town of Nelson’s Bay and watching the pelicans hang out at the fish cleaning area near the beach. They are well fed and huge – very ungainly on land, but wonderful to watch in the air – they look like 747s. A very restful day.
