Our first full day in Sydney! It was still wet on the roads, so no morning riding – Tom did go to meet the guys from the cycling club for coffee, and then we met up downtown to get our cell phones connected (great deal from Virgin Mobile) and to track down an Entertainment book . In the name of frugality, we’ve purchased this handy item the last two years, and it has given us the opportunity to try restaurants we wouldn’t otherwise frequent and has gotten us out into some interesting suburbs, hunting for bargains. This year, we picked up the book in the plaster room (where they put on casts) of the same hospital as last year (they sell the book for fund-raising). We stopped for a quick/cheap lunch in the Asian district and went back to the apt. The weather had been stormy off and on – thunderstorms and wind, so we waited until 6:00pm to go for a ride. It’s kind of cool to ride in the park in the evening, as most people cycle in the AM, and we got to watch the bats arrive for their nightly feed. (They’re fruit bats, so they were looking at trees with berries, not us) We cycled until dusk, then home for another early night.
