We took the train up to the Central Coast yesterday to visit our friends Jason & Kristin. They have a lovely home in Empire Bay, which is a gorgeous community surrounded by water and bushland. Tom’s big wish this year was to have a real “Aussie” barbecue, and Jason, who is a wonderful chef, had promised Tom he would cook. After touring us around the area, and having a look at their new home, into which they will move this next September, we went back to their home and Jason & Kristin prepared a beautiful meal. Here are some photos of the feast and Chef Jason at the barbecue!
It’s always such a treat to spend time with Jason & Kristin, as they are fun loving and delightful, and we have a great time laughing. After dinner they taught us how to play Uno, and we had lots of fun with that, even though our performance was substandard. The next day we went to a nice restaurant in Terrigal, on the ocean, for brunch. We sat outside and watched the surfers and the waves breaking on the beach. Jason and Tom had gotten up early to go for a ride in the rain, while I was lazy and lay in bed listening to the birds in the garden. The Kookaburras are so funny with their human-like laugh, and I swear they laugh the hardest when a human is caught out in the rain.
Jason and Kristin have two cats, which made us feel quite at home. They are named Akiko and T-Bone. Akiko spent a couple of hours on our bed on Sunday morning, but when it came time for a “family” photo, she was shy, so here are Kristin and Jason with a very relaxed T-Bone.
It was a lovely weekend – even the train trip to and from the central coast is pretty!
